Our mentoring analogy

Walking along the beach the other day, I thought of a great analogy to represent my mentoring program…. and I’d love to share it with you.

You are at the beach, it’s a beautiful summers day and the water is blue, clear and absolutely beautiful. You are swimming in the water which is warm and comfortable and the waves continue to roll in one after the other. All seems natural and flowing and you are really enjoying yourself.

You spot a sea bird flying over the waves and suddenly he dives into the water and comes out with a fish in his mouth. A fish that you couldn’t see from where you were swimming and you start to wonder how many other fish are swimming in the waves with you?

Now think of the ocean as your business. You are swimming in your business on a daily basis, you are enjoying it and everything is flowing smoothly (just like the waves). However you can’t see into your business because you are “in” your business and it takes a mentor (the seabird) to view your business from a different perspective to see the little gems, the little wins (the fish) that can make your business more successful.

One of our clients, Jenny Moalem, wrote this as her testimonial “When Nikki brings her eagle-eye perspective to my business, she’s able to identify needs and solutions that I’m not even aware of. ” and that depicts the above metaphor and our mentoring program perfectly.

So if you would like someone to view your business from a different perspective and assist you to identify the little gems you hadn’t seen, I’d love to do that for you.
